The alarm system uses passive infrared sensors to detect movement in a specific area ( RFMD-100 Motion Detector ). The movement of the patient in the area of the infrared beam activates the alarm device, notifies the persons caring for it. These alarm devices are advantageous because they can be positioned where the patient may be exposed to potential danger.

The second type of alarm system is the door detector ( RFWD-100 ) - this sends a signal to the alarm unit to warn the nurses that the patient is leaving the room.
